About Me

I’m Tom Killalea, a video game writer and narrative designer who has worked in the video games industry for over eight years. Currently, the side projects I’m working on are my debut novel, a number of short stories, and a Twine game.

I’m a firm believer in the transformative power of fictional stories, since the best are metaphors for life. I enjoy telling emotional stories with elements of humour, often revolving around the most powerful core — love — and exploring themes of family and mortality.

I love working with developers to help craft the stories, worlds, lore, and characters for their games. Further, I specialise in creating sharp, witty dialogue delivered by relatable characters. Stories told within video games should feature clear character motivations which are challenged through conflict, meaningful choices, and conclude with satisfying resolutions.

I understand that developing a game is a monumental undertaking that requires discipline and dedication. I’m therefore always humbled when talented developers choose to work with me, and I’m proud to be a narrative designer who treats projects with the care and respect they deserve.
